The August Flock of chickens all have at least a moment of purple in their feathers.

Somewhere in my childhood purple won my heart. Lavender, to be specific. Perhaps it was the images of rose-colored and lavender lupines strewn along the rocky coast by Miss Rumphius in my favorite childhood storybook.
